Luxury Italian menswear brand Canali has partnered with Dairo Vargas for this year's Art in Mayfair, opening its New Bond Street store doors (and windows!) to the captivating Colombian-born artist.

Inside the Canali boutique, you’ll find a selection of works by this contemporary fine artist who draws influence from the Renaissance and Baroque periods to cast a connection with our behaviour and psychology in the modern world.

Vargas’s vibrant work contrasts yet beautifully compliments the fine tailoring of the Canali brand, both partners share the same appreciation for elegance and contemporary style, care for materials, shapes, and a passion for Italian tradition. Innvoation and sustainability, contrasts and dynamism are central to both partners; the search for inner and not only outer beauty.

An evocative installation across the windows of New Bond Street, is the first step that leads the visitor in an immersive journey to the discovery of the five works set up inside.  By choosing to collaborate with the artist, Canali explores new horizons of communication between cultural tradition and craftsmanship, fashion and art.


Colombian by birth, Dairo Vargas is a contemporary fine artist who draws influence from the Renaissance and Baroque periods to cast a connection with our behaviour in modern society. His abstract work references the old masters while simultaneously conveying differing psychological states. Vargas is interested in the representation of external responses from internal experience and vice versa. Each image gives access to subconscious memories and emotions. The paintings appear to be either in stillness or movement and the fluid brush strokes invite the viewer to reflect on personal memory and encourage introspection. The work aims to capture the thinking process. Vargas uses gestural free association to represent the mind at the point it connects to a higher energy, releasing unlimited thoughts and emotions.
