Feast Your Eyes on Gauguin and the Impressionists, Showing at the Royal Academy of Art

Having recently reopened its doors to the public, the Royal Academy of Arts is back with its first blockbuster show of the year, Gauguin and the Impressionists: Masterpieces from the Ordrupgaard Collection. The exhibition showcases 60 works, amassed by wealthy Danish couple Wilhelm and Henny Hansen.

The stellar line-up includes; Claude Monet, Edgar Degas and Auguste Renoir to name but a few along with a number of Post-Impressionist works including eight paintings by Paul Gauguin. Many of the masterpieces have never been seen in the UK before.

And while the Royal Academy’s world-famous Summer Exhibition is on pause until 6 October 2020 - 3 January 2021, let the Impressionists whisk you away to sunnier, more carefree times. Berthe Morisot’s pretty portrait, Young Girl on the Grass, 1885 and Camille Pissarro’s leafy oasis, Plumb Trees in Blossom, Eragny, 1894, perfectly captures the public’s imagination and desire for some much needed escapism right now.
