Grand Seiko's latest release doesn’t just tell the time, it makes a statement. Introducing the Tokyo Lion Tentagraph, a striking chronograph that combines Japanese craftsmanship with fierce mechanical prowess. It’s part timepiece, part sculptural ode to the spirit of the lion - symbolising strength, precision and quiet confidence.
A Chronograph with a Heart That Roars
Beneath its polished exterior lies Grand Seiko’s most advanced mechanical chronograph to date: the Tentagraph movement, also known as the Calibre 9SC5. Beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour (or 10 times per second), it delivers razor-sharp accuracy whether you’re measuring a sprint or simply tracking time throughout the day. Thanks to its dual-barrel design and energy-efficient escapement, it keeps ticking for a full 72 hours, even with the chronograph running.
Crafted Like Armour, Worn Like Art
This is the first sports model in Grand Seiko’s collection to use Brilliant Hard Titanium, a metal that’s not only lighter than steel, but twice as hard. The result? A case that’s dazzlingly polished yet practically indestructible. Every facet, every surface, every angle is intentional.
Pushers have been redesigned for a tactile feel that’s satisfying with every click, and the dial itself carries the texture of a lion’s mane dancing in the breeze. Sub-dials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock sit deeper into the display, improving legibility and giving the watch a sense of depth rarely seen at this level.
Understated Power, All Day Comfort
Luxury shouldn’t come at the expense of comfort. Grand Seiko knows this, and it shows in the Tokyo Lion's rubber strap, specially engineered for this model. With 2.7 times the tensile strength of silicone, it hugs the wrist with a lion’s strength, not its bite. Even the strap’s inner motif nods to the lion’s paw, a subtle touch only the wearer is privy to.
A curved case back and bespoke titanium clasp ensure the watch stays put, no matter what your day holds. With its luminous indexes, 20 bar water resistance and magnetic shielding, this piece is built for real life. And yet, there’s no mistaking its presence. At 43mm wide and just over 15mm thick, the Tokyo Lion Tentagraph feels authoritative but never overbearing.
