Take a Sartorial Cue from Bond Street's Style Setters this Summer

Wondering what to wear to the office, a lunchtime picnic in one of our stunning Royal Parks, or to stand out from the art at the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition? Our Scene on Bond snappers have been out and about, capturing the essence of summer in the city on your behalf. As the season reaches its peak, consider drawing inspiration from street-style trendsetters - always ahead of the game and turning heads wherever they go.

Eye Openers...

This season, the eyes have it thanks to playful shapes and contemporary acetate frames. Dolce & Gabbana puts a modern twist on classic aviators in the menswear collection, including the Everyday Sunglasses, £215. For Riviera-ready looks, Gucci's entire eyewear collection reinterprets fashionable forms through rich colours and craftsmanship. The Oval Frame Sunglasses, £330, presented in dark brown tortoiseshell acetate with a contrasting GG acetate detail across the temples, are a case in point.

Black and white bags to covet

Add the finishing touches to this season's cool monochrome look with a bag to match. Givenchy’s small leather Voyou Bucket Bag in ivory, £1,600, features a soft silhouette, drawstring closure and an adjustable strap. Other details include the Givenchy signature embossed on the front of the bag, gold-finish metal details and a tactile suede lining.

Fendi's medium-size Way Bag, available in black leather and chocolate suede, £2,950, is designed to be customised with collectable Fendi charms on its key ring. The bag's suede-lined compartment and practical inner pocket will easily accommodate a tablet and other daily essentials including headphones and keys.

Prada's Explore Re-Nylon and Leather Backpack, £2,350, from the menswear collection, is the ultimate carry-all for urban expeditions and weekend escapes. Along with numerous pockets, the style comes with a detachable handle, making it easy to wear over the shoulder. Furthermore, its use of Re-Nylon, a sustainable nylon made from recycled ocean plastics, will earn you extra brownie points whenever you wear it.

Summer skirts

Asymmetric hemlines, midi and maxi lengths, and crisp pleats define this summer’s key skirt trends. Maximalists will love a voluminous cotton skirt, which pairs effortlessly with most shoe styles - from metallic pumps to heels. Miu Miu's Poplin Maxi Skirt promises to make a statement at any summer event. Jil Sander’s lightweight pleated skirt with side pockets (£540) delights in a fresh lemon hue. And the preppy spirit of Wimbledon created by the tournament's official outfitter, Ralph Lauren, lives on in the brand's Shamus Striped Linen Maxi Skirt, £1,900.

Colour-block suits

For an instant summer suit refresh, embrace a palette of ice cream hues, like this delicious shade of pistachio, spotted on our Scene on Bond Street style setter. Streamlined tailoring is a cut above this season at McQueen, where a single-breasted jacket in rosewood pink fine wool gabardine, £1,690, features a single-button fastening. Complete the look with McQueen's matching wool gabardine cigarette-style trousers, £790. And Victoria Beckham's tailored jacket in a soft shade of blue, £890, and matching trousers, £550, are perfect for summer days in the city.
