Claridge’s has seen its fair share of leading ladies. From Katharine Hepburn to Kate Winslet, the iconic hotel in the capital lays out an Art Deco carpet for starlets, both on and off screen.
On 15 March, beneath the hand-blown Gilded Dawn Chandelier, The Foyer & Reading Room invites the most important of women to experience its Mothering Sunday set menu – a decadent appetiser to a trip to Bond Street for the perfect Mother’s Day gift.
At the helm of the kitchen, culinary director Simon Attridge and executive chef Richard Galli have put together a show-stopping lineup, starting with Severn & Wye smoked salmon and a fresh crab salad with peppery slices of radish and apple, followed up by a quintessential Sunday roast with all the buttered trimmings or, for those who enjoy well-executed seafood, wild seabass in a scarlet sauce vierge, and beautifully flaky roasted halibut with piquillo peppers.
Vegetarian mums will be no less kitted out in flavour – wild mushroom crostini, white asparagus drizzled with a grapefruit sabayon and topped with chervil and hazelnut, and a gorgeously sticky shallot and goat’s cheese tarte tatin also make an appearance on the set menu.
For a sweet finish, the Claridge’s trolley, piled high with mille-feuille, cakes and patisseries that are as extravagant as the original Art Deco mirrors that run the length of the room. It’s a suitably impressive selection of desserts for your very own leading lady to savour along with a glass of Billecart-Salmon champagne.
Claridge’s three-course Mother’s Day set menu is priced at £125pp and is available on Sunday 15 March only – make your reservation here.
