Your Essential Guide to Art in Mayfair

Art in Mayfair Exhbitions Art Galleries

Now in its eighth edition, Art in Mayfair, in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Arts, celebrates art and culture with Bond Street at its heart. As part of the festivities, this year's event is perfectly timed to coincide with the RA's annual Summer Exhibition, commencing June 17, and the highly anticipated Kiefer/Van Gogh show, opening on June 28.

The Royal Academy blockbuster shows the profound impact of Vincent van Gogh on Honorary Royal Academician Anselm Kiefer’s artistic practice and provides the inspiration for his spectacular Bond Street flag display. In a vivid tribute to the Dutch painter, Kiefer's flags will hang majestically over the street's luxury stores and art galleries from 16 June to 22 July. With their bold reference to Van Gogh's most notable artworks, the flags also provide the perfect opportunity for visitors to engage with fine art beyond the Royal Academy’s walls, in Bond Street's world-class boutiques and hotels.

Opera Gallery collaboration with Mandarin Oriental Mayfair

Aurélia Jaubert at Sketch

From 3 June-20 July, Mayfair’s avant-garde destination Sketch presents an exhibition of new wall hangings by the celebrated French artist Aurélia Jaubert. The artist is best known for her meticulous creative process, which involves assembling hundreds of pieces of canvas and tapestry sewn together to form intricate patchwork compositions. Four new tapestries have been crafted specifically for the reception and alcoves of Sketch’s Grade-II listed building. They include reproductions of Botticelli's The Three Graces featuring bird heads, while a gorilla reminiscent of a Basquiat painting confronts a cat-headed nymph.

Montblanc's Masters of Art Homage to Vincent Van Gogh series

Certified Pre-Owned watches exclusive to Rolex Old Bond Street

For masterpieces of the horological kind, make tracks to the Watches of Switzerland Group's new flagship Rolex boutique on Old Bond Street, where a collection of rare Rolex Certified Pre-Owned watches is exclusive to this location. At the store's dedicated Rolex CPO Room, collectors and enthusiasts alike can immerse themselves in the rich history and technical excellence of the brand. Pieces range from a Comex model accompanied by provenance from the original diver to a 1016/0 Explorer 1968 inspired by the Oyster Perpetual Sir Edmund Hillary wore on his ascent of Mount Everest. FYI this particular watch is probably better suited to scaling mountains or participating in military exercises than running for a bus.

Artists Editions at Diptyque

A collection of artist's editions comes under the spotlight at Diptyque's Ephemeral Space, housed within its New Bond Street flagship. Rabih Kayrouz's Secretum comprises a cedarwood box containing three ceramic sculptures: the steps of an ancient temple, a fossilised poppy and a golden fragment from a cedar crown. One of the sculptures is scented with the warming notes of a Byblos candle. Other works include Hiroshi Sugimoto's Fragrance of Infinity, a pyramid-shaped glass sculpture reminiscent of his other sculptural glassworks. Also showing here, A Ceramic Garden celebrates the brand's iconic candle jars, which are stacked in the style of totem poles and topped with leafy plants.

The Art of Nudo: A legacy of artistic innovation at Pomellato

At the intersection of artistry and innovation lies Nudo, Pomellato’s most iconic creation. More than a jewel, each Nudo is a miniature masterpiece where multiple forms of art converge: the creative’s inventiveness in design, the artisan’s expertise in craftsmanship, the gem cutter’s precision in the signature 57-facet cut, the Gem Master’s sensitivity in gemstone selection, and the woman’s freedom in her limitless ways to wear Nudo. Meaning 'naked' in Italian, Nudo started off as a ring that would liberate coloured gemstones from traditional settings. Over two decades later, Nudo has evolved into a family of 130 creations, from earrings to pendants, featuring 24 different gemstones. Discover the collection at 31 New Bond Street
