Nothing says summer in the city quite like the arrival of Wimbledon. As the celebrated tennis tournament gets underway in South London, visitors to Bond Street will be treated to live coverage of the event on a large outdoor screen in nearby Hanover Square. Free to all and open from Monday, June 29, through to the Men's Singles Final on July 12, it's the perfect way to soak up the Wimbledon spirit here in W1.
As the players slog it out on grass, pull up a deckchair and make the most of the square's food and beverage pop-ups. Scrumptious soft serves and other delicious delights, including strawberries and cream, can be purchased at the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair stand. Thirsty? Quintessential summer drinks, including Pimm’s, Aperol, frozen rosé, and more will be served in the dedicated bar. Pre, and post-match lattes and teas will also be available from Ralph's Coffee on Bond Street.
As the official designer for Wimbledon since 2006, its worth taking a trip down Bond Street to see Ralph Lauren's latest tennis-themed windows. Meanwhile, as part of its current 'The Season' campaign, Brown's Hotel has teamed up with Laurent Perrier to celebrate Wimbledon in style. A chilled glass of champagne can be enjoyed over afternoon tea in the Drawing Room or as soon as cocktail hour strikes in the hotel's chic Donovan Bar.
Wimbledon-inspired teas are also the order of the day at Claridge's, where the hotel's executive pastry chef, Thibault Hauchard, puts a unique spin on a mouthwatering selection of sandwiches and cakes to mark the occasion. Featuring surprise savoury and sweet creations and concluding with a cocktail, the tea will be served in Claridge's Art Deco 'Painters Room' on Friday 10 July.
Delicate pastries and smoked salmon are also best enjoyed in the refined setting of The Biltmore Mayfair's Foliage Lounge. The Centre Court Strawberry dessert, made with pistachio frangipane and pistachio cream, is just one of the menu highlights from The Biltmore's limited-edition London Season Afternoon Tea.
For the ultimate Wimbledon pick-me-up, circle back to Brown's Hotel and visit its luxurious spa. The new Game, Set and Glow limited-edition pedicure lasts 70 minutes and includes a strawberry-infused foot soak and cooling leg therapy.
Finally, take a jewellery tip from Emma Raducanu and swing by Mikimoto's Bond Street boutique. The British No.1 Seed is a fan of the Japanese pearl brand and has worn Mikimoto's dainty pearl drop earrings and this delicate Akoya Cultured Pearl Chain bracelet in 18k yellow gold during some of her Grand Slam matches. Pearls and tennis whites? Definitely more 'in' than 'out'. And if you don't believe us, just ask Hawk-Eye.
