When Louis Vuitton launched its first-ever makeup collection at its New Bond Street flagship, the excitement surrounding the event was almost palpable. But the question on every beauty buff's lips ever since is, has it lived up to the hype? Designed under the creative direction of the legendary British makeup artist and Louis Vuitton Cosmetics creative director, Dame Pat McGrath, and featuring luscious lipsticks, balms and eyeshadows, the answer is a resounding yes!
The collection comprises 55 shades of satin and matt lipsticks in homage to the Roman numeral LV, each priced at £120, or £55 for a refill. There are 10 hues of lip balm and eight mirrored eyeshadow compacts containing four shades in each. Refillable plastic-free casings have been specially created by the German designer Konstantin Grcic, best known for his conceptual furniture pieces.
Staying true to the maison’s origins in luxury travel, the collection also features a range of small leather goods, including a lipstick pouch and wallet to hold blotting paper. As McGrath notes: ‘The beauty universe is about so much more than just product, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.’
