What's On: Diptyque, A Walk by Candlelight

Diptyque Art

The scent of spring fills the air at Maison Diptyque, where a new installation by French artist Juliette Minchin takes centre stage in the boutique's dedicated Ephemeral Space. The artist is best known for transforming natural materials such as wax and for capturing the beauty of the botanical world, while the pioneering French fragrance house continues to support art and culture. In short, it's the perfect pairing.

For her abstract installation, Minchin used a heritage-crafting technique, repeatedly plunging a large metal wire structure containing cut-out forms into melting wax. Once set, flowers and leaves would slowly emerge. Each shape echoes Diptyque's perfumes, most notably its signature Herbarium of Scents, a botanical collection of over 50 scented candles inspired by flowers, trees, fruits and spices.

Filling all four corners of the Ephemeral Space, the artwork also features soft wax drapes modelled by Minchin to suggest a cascade of waterfalls, from which silhouettes of buds and petals burst. With nature very much at the heart of this show, visitors are invited to wander among the plant frames and discover the artist's delicate floral abstractions in full bloom.

Running until June 8, explore the metamorphosis of materials and Diptyque's new candle scents at Maison Diptyque, 107 New Bond Street, London W1S 1ED
