Whether you are a hotel guest or celebrating a special occasion, chances are you've already stopped to admire the beauty of Claridge's flower arrangements and inhale their heady scent before you've even reached your seat or suite. But what if you could recreate these spectacular blooms to spruce up your own home?
Well, now you can thanks to the newly opened Claridge’s Flowers shop and floristry workshop. Joining Claridge’s Bakery and the hotel’s ArtSpace Café, the florist is the newest addition to this vibrant neighbourhood enclave, situated just behind the storied hotel on Brooks Mews. Since opening, there's been a hive of activity on this historic cobblestone mews each morning. Before the doors open, fresh flowers are delivered to the workshop, filling every inch of the space before a team of six florists gather at a central counter to prepare displays for Claridge's interiors, surprise posies for guests’ rooms and more.
"I am delighted that Claridge’s Flowers is opening its doors to the community of Mayfair and more," says Claridge’s managing director Thomas Kochs. "Our guests and visitors talk to me at length about our floral installations, which are a core part of the hotel’s DNA. How wonderful that we can now allow them to take these same flowers home with them."
Take your pick from an abundance of best-of-British blooms, from dahlias to delphinium, hellebores to hydrangeas, all available to purchase by the stem from £25, wrapped to arrange later at home, or sold in hand-tied bouquets. Nothing goes to waste here. Any unwanted cuttings are collected daily, all year-round. The green waste, which also includes the hotel's Christmas trees, is transported nearby to the Royal Parks, composted, and returned to UK growers within 16–20 weeks.
Or why not orchestrate your own bespoke creation? In which case, let the talented florists guide you in choosing seasonal buds and colours. For further instruction, the Brooks Mews workshop is also home to Flowers After Hours, a series of evening masterclasses where guests can have fun with florals, guided by the floristry team, complete with cocktails. Blooming delicious!
Claridge’s Flowers, Brooks Mews is open Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm and Sundays 11am-3pm
