Pearl Mayfair is the latest jewel in the capital’s culinary crown. Housed atop Brown Hart Garden's Grade II listed working electricity substation, The Beaumont Mayfair's new stand-alone restaurant is part of a new tranquil oasis, set in a contemporary landscaped garden.
At its helm, Lisa Goodwin-Allen, the esteemed Culinary Director at The Beaumont and one of the UK’s most recognised chefs, brings a touch of the Mediterranean to Mayfair. The seasonal all-day dining menu starts with breakfast - filled croissants with options including smoked salmon and scrambled egg, and truffle brie. Lunchtime and evening menus feature burrata, grilled peppers, artichokes and hazelnuts; octopus with ‘nduja aioli; grilled swordfish, preserved lemon and parsley; and lamb chops with sumac, tzatziki and dill. And to drink? Spritzes, wines, and non-alcoholic cocktails.
Alongside the restaurant launch, the historic gardens have undergone a major upgrade, complete with a new terrace. Once a best-kept secret for locals, the gardens were created atop a Baroque-style electricity substation in the early 20th Century, with an Italianate design insisted upon by the Duke of Westminster.
The re-design of Brown Hart Gardens is one of the final legacy projects from the renowned architect and horticulturalist Nigel Dunnett. Expect lush seasonal planting, eco-friendly design, and ever-changing greenery designed to keep the gardens buzzing all year round. Meanwhile, London-based architecture studio Studio Ageli has reimagined the historic pavilion now home to Pearl Mayfair, blending heritage features with a modern twist.
In the dining room, original structures and side elevations remain, now paired with sleek Portland stone, a dramatic three-metre roof light, and a sweeping glass wall framing the gardens. Sunlit, pearlescent interiors come courtesy of EPR Architects, channelling the coastal charm of Southern Europe, with art by Jemma Powell and Valéria Nascimento. Outside, a terrace inspired by Milanese piazzas and the Italian Riviera spills into Brown Hart Gardens, ideal for stylish alfresco dining.
Said Stuart Proctor, CEO of The Beaumont Mayfair: "It is an honour to be opening Pearl Mayfair at Brown Hart Gardens. This launch is about more than just a restaurant; it is about revitalising a unique piece of Mayfair’s history. We are creating a world-class dining destination but also a beautiful public sanctuary for the people of Mayfair and beyond.”
For those of you shopping for new season essentials on Bond Street, a little greenery and a leisurely lunch from this unique vantage point make Pearl Mayfair more than a culinary gem. It's the perfect autumn tonic.
