What’s On: Claridge’s x Dante’s Caviar Martini
What was meant to be a simple summer residency has turned into a full festive takeover at the historic Claridge’s hotel. Bringing a Manhattan rhythm reimagined for Mayfair, Dante extends its collaboration until Wednesday 31 December and brings with it the cocktail of the moment: the caviar martini.
This is no ordinary martini. Grey Goose Altius is blended with toasted rye and white peppercorn, stirred with the gentle sweetness of Dolin Blanc vermouth and aromatic bitters. The showpiece, however, is a gleaming spoonful of caviar delicately resting on top of the coupe. It’s a drink that straddles both worlds of downtown New York and the enduring glamour of Claridge’s. What else would you expect from New York’s storied bar, once crowned the world’s best?
Linden Pride, one half of Dante’s husband-and-wife co-owner duo, is particularly excited to bring his experience of Christmases in the city across the Atlantic: ‘Our new menu captures the flavours and spirit of New York in the fall, and my personal favourite time of year, from late-night Martini Hour to Fireside old fashioned's, and we’re very excited to share it with Londoners.’
The old fashioned in question is the Fireside old fashioned, made with The Glenrothes 15 Year Old, Johnnie Walker Black Label, smoked raisin and decanter bitters – a smoky, spiced, warming twist on the cocktail classic. And come December, hot smoked toddies and hot buttered rum will also make a starring appearance on the menu as the perfect pick for alfresco drinks on Claridge’s Restaurant Terrace.
The caviar martini can be found on Claridge’s x Dante Fall Cocktail Menu until 31 December. Visit claridges.co.uk for more details.
