Bond's Best: Stella McCartney Frayme Croc-Effect Shoulder Bag

The cruelty-free accessory boasts eco-savviness and serious fashion creds.

Ever since she launched her brand in 2001, Stella McCartney has stuck to her principles and avoided the use of leather, feathers, fur or exotic skins. Indeed, the conscious womenswear designer has made it her mission to incorporate material innovations that are not only cruelty-free, but that positively impact the environment.

So it’s easy to see the appeal of Uppeal™, a cruelty-free, vegan leather alternative innovated in Northern Italy by Mable Industries, for Stella. Made from the waste of apples grown for juice and jam, this pioneering material was first featured in the Winter 2023 runway collection in Frayme tote, bucket and shoulder bags in 'Alter Croc', a crocodile skin-effect faux leather.

As with each iconic style, the new-season Frayme Croc-Effect Embossed Medium Flap Shoulder Bag, £1,250, is the result of leftover pulp, skins and seeds that would otherwise have been sent to landfill or burned. Other features of the collection include organic cotton lacing and a lining crafted from recycled polyester to provide a partly biobased vegan, versatile and waterproof alternative to leather.

And in terms of your spring wardrobe essentials? Surely the deliciously crafted Frayme has to be part of your five-a-day.
