Ask the Spa Manager: Insider Tips from Brown's Hotel's Olga Holub
Olga Holub's wellness career took flight in 2009 after graduating from university in Poland and moving to the UK. Before landing at Brown’s in 2017 as a spa therapist, she mastered her craft in the world of luxury pampering at ESPA Life at the Corinthia hotel. By 2022, Holub had levelled up to spa manager at Brown’s, where she now juggles daily operations, ensures exceptional service in every area and keeps the spa running as coolly as a cucumber eye mask.
As Holub puts it: ‘Even on the busiest days, the spa stays calm and welcoming, ensuring every guest soaks up the serenity from the moment they arrive.’ For Holub, a true wellness whizz, it's all about the personal touches. Here, she shares her top tips for getting your glow on this winter.
What do you enjoy most about working for such a storied hotel, right in the heart of Mayfair?
Brown’s is not just a hotel; it is a place with a remarkable past and a longstanding reputation that few establishments can match. Working in the heart of Mayfair is truly a delight. Being so close to Bond Street also means easy access to a variety of theatres, making it convenient to catch a play after work. There are also plenty of great spots nearby to enjoy a meal or meet up with friends. I don’t have a particular favourite place, but I’m always open to trying new food, which makes exploring the area even more enjoyable. This really adds to the lively and sociable vibe beyond office hours.
How has the concept of wellness evolved in recent years and what factors are fuelling its growth?
Wellness has become increasingly important in recent years as more people recognise the connection between physical health, mental wellbeing and overall quality of life. There is a growing focus on self-care, stress management and preventive health, making wellness central to many lifestyles. People are also becoming more aware of what they put on their skin and how regular treatments, combined with exercise and healthy habits, help keep the body and mind in balance. This holistic approach to wellness – nourishing both the body and the mind – is a key driver of the ongoing trend.
For those looking for a little beauty boost this winter, what treatments do you recommend they book in for at The Spa at Brown's?
Peptide Power facial with the optional LED add-on is a fantastic boost for tired skin, especially at this time of year. For the body, the Smoothing and Nourishing Treatment is perfect to hydrate dry skin, and for anyone who isn’t particularly a fan of massage (though I don’t know anyone like that!), the Draining Body Brush and Scrub is a great choice. These treatments really help refresh both the skin and the senses, giving a lovely seasonal pick-me-up.
What innovative treatments or breakthrough ingredients are creating the biggest buzz in The Spa at Brown's right now?
I'm always excited to learn and then implement the latest developments in spa treatments and ingredients that deliver proven results. With our facials, we focus on expert facial massage techniques that help boost elasticity and circulation, providing a natural lift and radiant glow. In addition, some of the Irene Forte products we use contain powerful, scientifically backed ingredients such as:
Hyaluronic acid – deeply hydrates the skin, improving plumpness and reducing the appearance of fine lines.
Myoxinol – a peptide complex known for its relaxing effect on facial muscles, helping to soften expression lines.
Phytomelatonin – a plant-derived antioxidant that supports skin repair and helps protect against environmental stressors.
What are your insider secrets for sustaining that coveted post-spa glow?
A post-spa glow can be maintained long after leaving the spa by combining good skincare habits with a balanced lifestyle. Staying well hydrated, using quality skincare products, getting enough sleep and managing stress all help support healthy, glowing skin.
Beyond spa treatments, what role does nutrition play in achieving radiant skin and lasting wellness?
A balanced diet helps keep the body healthy, which directly affects energy levels and the appearance of the skin. Foods rich in vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and antioxidants support skin repair, elasticity and hydration, while limiting processed foods and excess sugar can help reduce inflammation and dullness. When the body is nourished from the inside, it shows on the outside.
What are your top wellness tips that can be enjoyed at home?
My top beauty and wellness tips for at-home care are simple but effective. I love my skincare routine, which is minimal. I don’t use too many products but I make time for a quick face massage every morning and evening. This helps boost circulation and supports healthy, radiant skin. Each morning, I disconnect from my phone and enjoy a peaceful walk with my dog. This time for myself helps me start the day feeling calm, refreshed and balanced.
